## Summary

ABB Robotics and NVIDIA announced a new education initiative focused on **physical AI**—AI applied to robotics and industrial systems—at the NVIDIA GTC conference in Berlin. The program aims to prepare workers for the next generation of **Autonomous Versatile Robotics (AVR)**, which integrates AI into manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance tasks. Marc Segura, president of ABB Robotics, emphasized that **84% of companies lack AI-aligned job redesigns**, despite 53% reporting efforts to build AI fluency, per a white paper co-developed with AWS, Deloitte, and others. The curriculum combines hands-on training with **ABB RobotStudio** and **NVIDIA Omniverse**, offering a certificate in robotics, simulation, and physical AI upon completion.

The initiative highlights a collaborative approach between academia, industry, and tech providers to bridge the skills gap. ABB and NVIDIA stress that **technology alone won’t drive adoption**—workers must understand how to deploy AI in real-world production systems. The program will be showcased at GTC Berlin, with further details expected on its rollout timeline.

## Key points

- ABB Robotics and NVIDIA launch a physical AI education program at GTC Berlin, targeting industrial robotics skills
- White paper finds 84% of companies haven’t redesigned jobs for AI despite 53% building AI fluency
- Curriculum includes hands-on training with ABB RobotStudio and NVIDIA Omniverse, offering a certificate

## Why it matters

The program addresses a critical gap: while AI adoption in manufacturing grows, workers lack training to integrate it into physical systems. This collaboration could accelerate adoption by aligning education with real-world industrial needs.
