## Summary

Agility Robotics and AGCO announced a commercial agreement in October 2026 to deploy Agility’s Digit humanoid robot in AGCO’s manufacturing facility in Hesston, Kansas. The pilot program, expected to begin in 2027, aims to enhance factory flexibility and intelligence. This follows Agility’s earlier partnership expansion with GXO Logistics for North Carolina and Tennessee sites, signaling broader adoption of humanoid robots in logistics and manufacturing.

Boston Dynamics also made progress in October 2026, unveiling a new directly actuated hand for its Atlas humanoid with 13 degrees of freedom, shifting focus from grasping to object manipulation. Meanwhile, AWS released an open-source Physical AI Toolchain to streamline robotic AI development workflows, integrating AWS services with NVIDIA’s Physical AI stack. Gecko Robotics secured an additional $300 million in its U.S. Navy contract, quadrupling the ceiling for maintenance efficiency improvements.

## Key points

- AGCO and Agility Robotics signed a deal to deploy Digit humanoids in AGCO’s Kansas factory starting 2027
- Boston Dynamics unveiled a 13-DoF directly actuated hand for Atlas, targeting mass manufacturing
- AWS launched an open-source Physical AI Toolchain for robotic AI development workflows

## Why it matters

Humanoid robot deployments in manufacturing and logistics signal growing industry adoption of embodied AI, while AWS’s toolchain lowers barriers for roboticists. These moves could accelerate automation in traditionally slow-to-adopt sectors like construction and energy.
