The user says Amazon performed a verification process before deciding to cancel the orders and shut down the account. The incident is unconfirmed as a system glitch or intentional policy.\n\nSweeney noted that Amazon was accepting regular orders but canceling them just before shipment.\n\nCompute hardware is in high demand and scarce, so Amazon may be limiting how many units a single customer can acquire. The post does not confirm whether the cancellations are a glitch or an anti‑scalper measure, and the user is advised to try ordering a single unit first.","keyPoints":["Amazon canceled four DGX Spark orders on Oct 31 and closed the buyer’s account.","Tim Sweeney’s two NVIDIA GPU orders were canceled, but his account remained open.","It is unclear whether Amazon’s cancellations are a glitch or an anti‑scalper measure."],"whyItMatters":"High‑demand compute hardware shortages may be worsened by retailer policies, affecting researchers and developers needing GPUs for training models.","category":{"slug":"business","name":"Business & Funding","url":"https://digestai.news/category/business"},"entities":{"companies":["Amazon","NVIDIA"],"models":["DGX Spark"],"people":["Tim Sweeney","@nicksaraev"]},"firstPublishedAt":"2026-11-02T20:33:48Z","updatedAt":"2026-11-02T20:33:48Z","sourceCount":1,"hasPrimarySource":false,"sources":[{"outlet":"wccftech.com","title":"Amazon Is Allegedly Canceling GPU Orders And, In Rare Cases, Closing Accounts For Purchasing Compute Hardware; Tim Sweeney Also A Victim Of This Practice","url":"https://wccftech.com/amazon-allegedly-canceling-gpu-orders-closing-accounts-compute-hardware-tim-sweeney","publishedAt":"2026-11-02T20:33:48Z","type":"press","primary":false,"lead":true}],"sourceNotes":null,"discussions":[{"site":"Reddit","url":"https://www.reddit.com/r/LocalLLaMA/comments/1xm8o8g/amazon_is_allegedly_canceling_gpu_orders_and_in/","points":null}],"thread":null,"cite":{"text":"Digest AI, \"Amazon allegedly cancels GPU orders and closes accounts\", 2 November 2026, https://digestai.news/story/amazon-allegedly-cancels-gpu-orders-and-closes-accounts","publisher":"Digest AI","title":"Amazon allegedly cancels GPU orders and closes accounts","datePublished":"2026-11-02T20:33:48Z","url":"https://digestai.news/story/amazon-allegedly-cancels-gpu-orders-and-closes-accounts"},"generatedBy":"Written by Digest AI's editorial model from the linked sources; the sources are the record.","license":"Headlines, digests and key points are written by Digest AI and may be quoted with a link to the story page.
