The couple, worth nearly $30 billion, focuses their donations on AI advocacy, with Greg describing them as “single-issue donors.” Anna, a former Dropbox employee and venture capital associate, has left her own career to support Greg’s work, appearing in product demos and accompanying him to high-level meetings, including a trip to South Korea for startups and White House events with Trump administration officials. Her influence extends to political strategy, as she allegedly pleaded with OpenAI board member Ilya Sutskever during the 2023 board crisis over CEO Sam Altman’s removal. The Brockmans’ political giving has drawn scrutiny, with some employees accusing them of using OpenAI’s name to fund partisan causes while distancing the company publicly. After internal backlash, they rescinded a second planned $25 million donation to *Leading the Future*, calling it a “distraction.” Their recent focus has shifted to conservation, donating over $5.5 million to protect eagle habitats in Big Bear Valley, a move framed as apolitical.","keyPoints":["Greg Brockman and Anna Brockman donated $25 million each to MAGA Inc. and pro-AI PAC *Leading the Future* this cycle","Anna left her job at Basis Set Ventures to support Greg’s work, appearing in demos and accompanying him to political events","After employee backlash, the Brockmans rescinded a second $25 million donation to *Leading the Future*, citing distraction"],"whyItMatters":"The Brockmans’ political spending reflects how AI leaders’ personal wealth and ideology shape policy debates, blurring lines between corporate and partisan influence.
