## Summary

Apple announced it will tighten App Store rules to make it harder for minors to use dating apps or AI companions that contain sexual or romantic content. From November 16, developers must label any app that offers dating or romantic relationship features with an 18+ rating and add new content descriptors so the rating reflects the app’s content.

The policy also applies to AI companion apps such as Character.AI, Replika and xAI, which let users create virtual friends, lovers or fantasy characters. Apple noted that top AI companion apps on the App Store and Google Play had been downloaded 220 million times globally. In addition, any app that shares a user’s real‑world location with another person or group must disclose that feature.

In Brazil, the law allows apps that share family location data to request an official rating from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security instead of the standard A16 rating, giving developers a different compliance path.
