## Summary

Android Authority reports finding evidence in an APK teardown that Google is preparing to expand its Gemini "Call for Me" feature beyond business contexts. The discovery includes an introductory screen for "Gemini Calling" with examples like telling a family member you are 15 minutes late or asking a friend about dinner plans. This suggests the AI could automate simple, message-like phone calls for personal use, potentially helping users communicate with relatives who prefer voice calls or miss text messages.

The report also notes the presence of granular permission settings for Gemini actions within individual apps. These settings would allow users to control which app capabilities Gemini can access, including specific phone call permissions. This could give users the option to opt out of receiving incoming automated calls from Gemini. However, Android Authority cautions that Google may not publicly release this expansion or the detailed permission settings, as the findings are based on a leaked or pre-release build.

## Key points

- Android Authority found "Gemini Calling" screens in an APK teardown suggesting personal call expansion.
- Examples include telling family you are late or asking friends about dinner plans.
- Granular permissions may let users opt out of incoming automated Gemini calls.

## Why it matters

Expanding AI calling to personal contexts raises privacy and consent questions. Granular permissions could set a standard for user control over autonomous AI actions in consumer devices.
