Instead of juggling the Developer Console, Business Manager, API docs and editors, businesses can simply describe the desired setup in a chat and have the agent create the account, verify phone numbers, register for the Cloud API, and manage templates and webhooks.\n\nThe feature expands Meta’s MCP ecosystem, which already powers ad‑management and app‑configuration tools, and joins a growing list of services (PayPal, Stripe, GitHub, Notion, Slack, Salesforce, Atlassian, X, Google, Microsoft) that expose MCP servers for secure AI‑driven automation. Meta also highlighted that its Social Technologies MCP can still be used for endpoint discovery, documentation lookup, and error troubleshooting during the onboarding flow.\n\nBy offloading repetitive setup steps to an AI assistant, Meta aims to lower the technical barrier for companies of all sizes to adopt WhatsApp Business messaging, potentially accelerating adoption and reducing integration errors.","keyPoints":["Meta’s new WhatsApp Business Tools MCP lets AI agents configure accounts via chat, removing manual console steps","Supported agents include Claude, Cursor, Codex and ChatGPT, handling phone verification, API registration, and template creation","MCP servers now span ads, app configs, and WhatsApp, joining similar offerings from PayPal, Stripe, GitHub, and others"],"whyItMatters":"Automating WhatsApp Business onboarding cuts development time and errors, making the platform more accessible for SMEs and boosting Meta’s messaging ecosystem.","category":{"slug":"agents","name":"Agents & Tools","url":"https://digestai.news/category/agents"},"entities":{"companies":["Meta","WhatsApp","PayPal","Stripe","GitHub","Microsoft"],"models":["Claude","Codex","ChatGPT"],"people":[]},"firstPublishedAt":"2026-09-15T20:12:53Z","updatedAt":"2026-09-15T21:24:00Z","sourceCount":2,"hasPrimarySource":false,"sources":[{"outlet":"TechCrunch AI","title":"Meta now lets AI agents handle the boring parts of WhatsApp Business setup","url":"https://techcrunch.com/2026/09/15/meta-now-lets-ai-agents-handle-the-boring-parts-of-whatsapp-business-setup","publishedAt":"2026-09-15T20:12:53Z","type":"press","primary":false,"lead":true},{"outlet":"livemint.com","title":"Meta launches WhatsApp Business MCP to let AI agents handle setup and testing","url":"https://livemint.com/ai/meta-launches-whatsapp-business-mcp-to-let-ai-agents-handle-setup-and-testing/amp-11789530834136.html","publishedAt":"2026-09-15T21:24:00Z","type":"press","primary":false,"lead":false}],"sourceNotes":null,"discussions":[],"thread":{"title":"Meta's Muse AI Agent Saga","url":"https://digestai.news/thread/metas-muse-ai-agent-seeks-user-trust-with-secure-architecture","storyCount":3},"cite":{"text":"Digest AI, \"Meta enables AI agents to automate WhatsApp Business setup via new MCP server\", 15 September 2026, https://digestai.news/story/meta-enables-ai-agents-to-automate-whatsapp-business-setup-via-new-mcp-server","publisher":"Digest AI","title":"Meta enables AI agents to automate WhatsApp Business setup via new MCP server","datePublished":"2026-09-15T20:12:53Z","url":"https://digestai.news/story/meta-enables-ai-agents-to-automate-whatsapp-business-setup-via-new-mcp-server"},"generatedBy":"Written by Digest AI's editorial model from the linked sources; the sources are the record.","license":"Headlines, digests and key points are written by Digest AI and may be quoted with a link to the story page.
