## Summary

Microsoft is hosting its first dedicated laptop event in two years on Oct. 7 in San Francisco, where it will showcase Windows and Surface devices but not Windows 12. The focus is on local AI shaping the PC, with CEO Satya Nadella and head of Windows and Devices Pavan Davuluri speaking.

Microsoft may announce the Surface Laptop Ultra, a 15‑inch high‑end PC powered by Nvidia’s new RTX Spark chip, at the same event. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is also slated to appear. Two new Surface laptops were previewed at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit, and Microsoft upgraded its Surface Pro 12‑inch and Surface 13‑inch models to run on Snapdragon Elite X2 chips, adding a new mouse and improved cameras.

Prices are expected to rise due to chip demand and Windows license costs, a trend dubbed RAMageddon. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube and covered by CNET.
