## Summary

Microsoft will remove eight AI-powered shortcuts from the Windows 11 right-click context menu starting mid-November 2026, with completion expected by early December 2026. The commands — Summarize, Create FAQ, Compare Files, Ask a question, Explain image, Explain images, Compare images, and Extract text — currently appear when users right-click files and rely on OneDrive integration. Microsoft says the change simplifies the context menu and reduces clutter.

Users will still reach the same capabilities through the general "Ask Copilot" menu option. The move follows other recent adjustments: Microsoft removed the "Ask Copilot" button from Snipping Tool and Photos, and renamed the Copilot button in Notepad to "Writing Tools." Windows 11 users have criticized what they call forced AI integration, coining the term "Microslop." Microsoft has not explicitly tied the removals to user feedback.

## Key points

- Eight Copilot right-click commands removed from Windows 11 starting mid-November 2026
- Features required OneDrive; general "Ask Copilot" option remains available
- Follows removal of Copilot buttons from Snipping Tool, Photos, and Notepad rename

## Why it matters

Microsoft is scaling back visible AI integrations in Windows after user complaints about forced features, signaling a shift toward simpler, opt-in AI rather than ubiquitous shortcuts.
