## Summary

OpenAI has announced new features for its ChatGPT for Teens product, including a College Planner tool and enhanced study aids. The College Planner is designed to help US high school students in grades 10–12 manage college applications, track deadlines, and understand financial aid. OpenAI states that hundreds of thousands of US teens already use the platform weekly for these purposes, and the new tool aims to consolidate these tasks into a single timeline. The company plans to expand the feature to other countries and two-year colleges in the future.

In addition to college planning, OpenAI is introducing continuous multi-photo capture on iOS, allowing students to photograph multiple pages of notes and combine them into a single PDF for upload. New flashcard and quiz features enable students to convert uploaded notes into interactive study materials. OpenAI reports that teens using the platform send about 2.7 million more learning-related messages on average than those without access, with nearly 1.2 million teens using Learning Visualizations in one week.

The company is also supporting the College Advising Corps nonprofit to place recent graduates as advisers in under-resourced high schools. Furthermore, OpenAI is partnering with Boston Children’s Hospital’s Digital Wellness Lab for three years to gather feedback from students on AI safety, parental controls, and digital wellbeing. OpenAI emphasizes that teen usage patterns remain well below average social media usage, with most teens spending under 15 minutes a day on the platform.
