The new features are available to subscribers on the Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans that have the Space workspace enabled. Multiple teammates can now work on the same AI‑generated deck simultaneously, leaving comments directly on slides and making changes without re‑prompting the model.\n\nThe update, rolled out on October 16, 2026, follows OpenAI’s acquisition of presentation startup NextSlide on August 9, 2026, and the launch of the Space collaborative workspace in late September 2026. Users can edit text, images, shapes, and charts at the slide level and export finished decks as PowerPoint files, PDFs, or Google Slides. A limitation at launch is the lack of a comment‑only permission; collaborators receive either view or full‑edit rights.\n\nAnalysts note the move positions OpenAI against established productivity suites such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, aiming to make AI‑generated presentations a sticky, collaborative tool for teams.","keyPoints":["Real-time multi-user editing and commenting added to ChatGPT Slides, available to Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers.","Slide-level editing lets users modify text, images, shapes, and charts without re-prompting the AI.","Decks can be exported as PowerPoint, PDF, or Google Slides; comment-only permission is not offered at launch."],"whyItMatters":"Adding collaborative editing puts OpenAI’s ChatGPT Slides in direct competition with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, giving AI‑generated decks real‑time teamwork and export flexibility.","category":{"slug":"marketing","name":"Marketing & Small Business","url":"https://digestai.news/category/marketing"},"entities":{"companies":["OpenAI","NextSlide","Microsoft","Google"],"models":[],"people":[]},"firstPublishedAt":"2026-10-19T15:33:00Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-19T15:33:00Z","sourceCount":1,"hasPrimarySource":false,"sources":[{"outlet":"cryptobriefing.com","title":"OpenAI adds real-time collaboration to ChatGPT Slides","url":"https://cryptobriefing.com/openai-chatgpt-slides-real-time-collaboration","publishedAt":"2026-10-19T15:33:00Z","type":"press","primary":false,"lead":true}],"sourceNotes":null,"discussions":[],"thread":null,"cite":{"text":"Digest AI, \"OpenAI adds real-time collaboration to ChatGPT Slides for Pro, Business, Enterprise users\", 19 October 2026, https://digestai.news/story/openai-adds-real-time-collaboration-to-chatgpt-slides-for-pro-business","publisher":"Digest AI","title":"OpenAI adds real-time collaboration to ChatGPT Slides for Pro, Business, Enterprise users","datePublished":"2026-10-19T15:33:00Z","url":"https://digestai.news/story/openai-adds-real-time-collaboration-to-chatgpt-slides-for-pro-business"},"generatedBy":"Written by Digest AI's editorial model from the linked sources; the sources are the record.","license":"Headlines, digests and key points are written by Digest AI and may be quoted with a link to the story page.
