## Summary

The author, after three‑plus years with a Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, switched to a Pixel 10 Pro in March 2026. While the Pixel runs Google’s AI‑heavy software, it lacks several Samsung One UI features the author relied on: the Good Lock customization suite, widget stacking, and the more powerful Modes and Routines automation.

Google has been adding AI tools such as Gemini, the Rambler assistant, Pro Zoom and Pixel Screenshots, but many of these are described as clutter rather than useful upgrades. The author finds the Pixel launcher inferior, with a fixed home‑screen grid, no third‑party icon packs, and limited brightness controls. The piece argues that Google’s AI‑first roadmap is leaving core UI functionality behind, risking user churn to Samsung’s more customizable ecosystem.

## Key points

- Pixel 10 Pro lacks Samsung’s Good Lock app, widget stacking, and advanced Modes/Routines that One UI offers.
- Google has added AI features like Gemini, Rambler, Pro Zoom, but many users find them less useful than core UI tools.
- The author switched from a Galaxy S21 FE to a Pixel 10 Pro in March 2026 and now prefers Samsung’s customization.

## Why it matters

If Google continues prioritizing AI over core UI features, it may lose users who value deep customization, giving Samsung a competitive edge in the premium smartphone market.
