## Summary

Promise Robotics announced a multi-year deal with D.R. Horton to use its Factory-as-a-Service (FaaS) platform for producing over 1,250 homes in the U.S. The Toronto-based startup integrates robotics, AI, and software to automate homebuilding workflows—from design translation to onsite installation—addressing labor shortages and rising costs in the fragmented construction industry.

The company claims its system can build a two-family home with two stories, a basement, and a garage in one day, compared to the traditional two to three weeks. Its tech stack includes computer vision, LLMs for data prep, and domain-specific reasoning models, generating 300 new images and 5,000 tactile sources per home. Promise Robotics is setting up initial FaaS facilities in Edmonton, Calgary, and Phoenix, with D.R. Horton as its first major U.S. partner. The startup emphasizes adaptability across markets, adjusting for local building codes and material needs.

## Key points

- Promise Robotics partners with D.R. Horton to build 1,250+ homes using AI-driven Factory-as-a-Service
- System claims to cut two-family home construction from 2-3 weeks to one day
- Uses robotics, LLMs, and domain-specific AI to handle variable designs and materials

## Why it matters

If successful, this could disrupt homebuilding by reducing labor costs and speeding production, but adoption depends on trust and scalability in a traditionally conservative industry.
