## Summary

A new open‑source command‑line tool called **RemoveMacAI** lets macOS 27 users delete the Apple Intelligence AI models that Apple ships with the system. The tool uses a configuration profile to disable Apple’s asset‑management service, removes the downloaded models, and blocks future downloads by redirecting requests to a closed local port. It does all this without disabling System Integrity Protection or manually deleting protected files.

Users report that the tool can free roughly **12GB** of space, depending on which models are present. The tool is popular on GitHub, where it has attracted hundreds of stars in its first week, and it has sparked discussion on Reddit and Hacker News. The removal also disables a range of AI features, including Siri‑related services, Writing Tools, Genmoji, Image Playground, ChatGPT integration, and Xcode predictive completion. Many users on non‑upgradeable Macs with 256GB of storage are willing to sacrifice these features for the storage gain.

The project notes that the configuration‑profile keys it relies on were deprecated in macOS 26.4 but still work in macOS 27.0.1. Future macOS releases could change this, and the tool’s profile is said to persist across updates. Users are warned that MacRumors does not endorse the tool and that it is used at their own risk.
