## Summary

Schneider Electric, NVIDIA and HPE announced a collaboration to deploy **Industrial AI Agents at the Edge** in process industries like oil refining, brewing and paper manufacturing. These agents monitor equipment, recommend or take action, and verify outcomes—all on-site to reduce latency. Three agents will launch first: one for operational technology (OT) monitoring, another for cybersecurity, and a third for energy optimisation, which combines process data to suggest efficiency improvements.

The energy agent, described as the most advanced, will analyse energy consumption, equipment performance and production needs to identify optimisation opportunities. CMPC Chile, a Latin American pulp and paper producer, is a named customer, having used Schneider’s OT monitoring system for three years. Matías Jory, CMPC’s Digital & Process Manager, called the new agents promising for faster issue resolution while keeping human oversight. Gwenaelle Huet, Schneider’s EVP of Industrial Automation, framed the initiative as a shift toward AI-driven industrial systems beyond autonomous machines.

## Key points

- Three AI agents target OT monitoring, cybersecurity, and energy optimisation in process plants
- Energy agent uses real-time data to recommend efficiency adjustments and verify impact
- CMPC Chile tests Schneider’s OT monitoring system but has not yet deployed the new agents

## Why it matters

AI agents at the edge could cut costs and downtime in energy-intensive industries by automating decision-making on-site, reducing reliance on remote data centers.
