## Summary

SpaceXSI’s Grok Bot now lets paid users make phone calls, including handling holds, booking appointments, and negotiating bills via U.S. numbers. Users remain legally responsible for all calls, with the bot disclosing its virtual assistant status. Early examples include Comcast bill negotiations and pizza orders, all conducted through a temporary number within the platform.

The feature follows SpaceXSI’s claim that Grok Voice already handles 20,000 Starlink calls daily. However, Elon Musk criticized the platform’s cost as unsustainably high relative to revenue. The move aligns with broader industry trends of AI agents automating routine tasks, though Grok Bot’s phone call capability remains limited to paid users.

## Key points

- Grok Bot’s phone call feature lets users book appointments, negotiate bills, and handle holds via U.S. numbers
- Users remain legally responsible for calls, with Grok Bot disclosing its virtual assistant status mid-call
- SpaceXSI reports Grok Voice handles 20,000 Starlink calls daily, but Musk calls platform costs unsustainably high

## Why it matters

This expands AI agent capabilities into phone interactions, a high-value but underdeveloped use case. If successful, it could accelerate adoption of AI for customer service and administrative tasks, though legal and ethical risks remain.
