Al Gore: AI safety warnings from industry leaders are sincere, not marketing

He highlighted that clean energy investment now outpaces fossil fuels, with renewables accounting for 86% of new global electricity capacity last year.

Alongside Lila Preston from Generation Investment Management, Gore discussed how the AI build-out is creating opportunities for grid resilience and energy efficiency. They noted that AI applications could reduce global emissions by 6% to 9% annually starting next decade, suggesting that the technology’s potential for climate mitigation is significant if managed correctly.
