OpenAI expands ChatGPT Voice to handle work tasks via plugins

Users can speak instructions naturally, refining them in conversation with the AI. For example, instead of typing a detailed email prompt, one might say, “Draft a thank-you email to Client X, including three follow-ups for next week.” The AI then generates a draft, which the user can review and edit. Plugins and apps can also be triggered via voice, though OpenAI notes that user approval is still required for sensitive operations. Voice is not a replacement for text—it’s designed to cut the time spent crafting prompts, though it may not suit tasks requiring precise numbers, confidential details, or public speaking.
