Google's Gemini outperforms ChatGPT and Claude as Android assistant

Gemini completed almost every request, including alarm and timer creation, flashlight control, reminders in Google Tasks, and even lock‑screen activation with a wake word. Claude performed many on‑device actions too, like setting alarms, timers, and adding calendar events after granting permission, and it could send emails via Gmail and work with Docs, Sheets, and third‑party apps once connectors were configured. However, Claude could not set reminders and sometimes mis‑transcribed prompts. ChatGPT excelled at conversational queries and quick calculations but could not interact with the phone’s functions, often only reading responses aloud and leaving the user to act manually.

The test shows that while Claude narrows the gap with Gemini by offering some device control through connectors, Gemini remains the most integrated Android assistant, especially for users who need seamless, hands‑free operation across the phone’s native features.
