Shopify adds built‑in Knowledge base to admin

Shopify has integrated its Knowledge Base into the admin interface, replacing the standalone app that will be discontinued after January 15, 2027. The new in‑admin Knowledge Base lets merchants draft, edit, and publish facts that AI agents use to answer customer queries. Facts are pulled from published storefront pages and remain unpublished until the merchant publishes them.

Key points from the news

  • Shopify moves Knowledge Base into admin, replacing the standalone app
  • Standalone app will be unavailable after January 15, 2027
  • Stores with <1,000 facts migrate automatically; >1,000 need manual selection

Merchants with fewer than 1,000 facts will have their data migrated automatically; those with more than 1,000 facts must manually select which facts to keep before the app’s end date. Shopify has emailed stores with more than 1,000 facts to inform them of the migration process. The feature is available now under Sales Channels – Agentic Knowledge Base, with further details in the Shopify Help Center.
